Part 2 of my weekend involved a BBQ/Pool Party. Unfortunately, while last weekend we were frying in an inferno of 90+ degree weather – on Saturday it was about 65. Not exactly IDEAL swimming weather. Although, there was not a cloud in the sky, and just dunking my feet in the water was heavenly!
A couple that we are friends with started renting a new house in Point Loma. The house is GORGEOUS. Built in the 70s, with the inground pool and patio in the front yard, that is up on a hill and surrounded by trees. The house itself is very open, spacious, tons of light and huge windows. I could totally picture someone filming a porno there back in the day. The home has a gorgeous view of downtown/the harbor, and it’s VERY hard not to be insanely jealous.
However, they are renting the home with one other couple, and one other roommate that I didn’t meet. And I think they are looking for another roommate. So all this spacious, gorgeous deluxe living, is not without its downside. I personally think I’ll wait until I win the lottery, America’s Got Talent, or somehow otherwise hit it big – so I can have a house like this ALL TO MYSELF (and Eric, of course. Maybe. TeeHee.)
I don’t know how I’d feel about living with randoms – no matter how big the house. I lived with a semi-random for a while, and it made me miserable. There was a complete lack of personal respect, courtesy and um, hygiene. Don’t leave a small amount of coffee in the bottom of the pot for WEEKS and then claim you were running a science experiment. You are NOT even currently in school, let alone a Biology major. You are just lazy, and getting me sick while the mold is taking over the kitchen.
Anyway, the party. The drinks were flowin’, the grill was grillin’, and everything was in full swing! We had some great music playing and it was really just all chill. Hung out with some old friends, met some new peeps…even had a neighbor come over at 5:30pm to complain about noise. AT 5:30 IN THE AFTERNOON? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? There were about 10 of us hangin’ out, and yes, we did have the radio blasting a bit, but STILL. It would be one thing if it was 2am. Or hell, even 10pm. FINE. But when it is still daylight outside, you are just being ridiculous. I wonder if he also complained about the guy down the street mowing his lawn?
Regardless, it was a good time, and thanks to my pina colada scented Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen, I did not get burnt to a crisp. But…I was still suffering from a migraine that has been bugging me on and off since Thursday, and I think the sun and drinks on top of that didn’t help. So, unfortunately, I had to cut my night short, while the rest of the crew went on down to a local bar for some karaoke. You KNOW I’ve got to be in BAD SHAPE to turn down some karaoke!
I slept and slept and slept. Drank a gallon of water. Ate a California Burrito. Slept and slept and slept. I managed to come back from the dead somewhat on Sunday. Eric and I took a quick trip to Target for some essentials, and partook in a sub-par lunch in the food court. And then I slept some more. As Eric headed out for his sketch comedy troupe’s rehersal, I decided to be semi productive and wash the dishes. Then I did one of the Core Rhythms workout videos I had purchased earlier at Target. That thing kicked my core, for sure! But it was fun, even though I clearly have no business doing the Samba, Cha-Cha, or any similar dances. It was 45 minutes of torture and fun; I was sweating like a fiend and aching so bad when I was done. But I felt good and productive. And not at ALL guilty when I convinced Eric to take me to Outback.
